Solar Pro 2 API Pricing
Solar Pro 2 is deprecated. Upstage ends service for it on October 30, 2026 (KST): its pricing card carries the date, and its model history says requests naming the current build, solar-pro2-251215, return an error after it. Upstage tells users to migrate to Solar Pro 4. Until then it bills $0.15/M input, $0.015/M cached input and $0.60/M output - half Solar Pro 4's list rate on every dimension, so the move doubles the per-token bill at list. Checked by hand against upstage.ai.

This is a chars-per-token approximation, not a real tokenizer. Actual tokens vary by language, code density, and tool-call overhead — counts are typically ±10–20% off for English prose, more for code or non-Latin scripts. For exact billing, use the vendor's official tokenizer.

Frequently asked.
Solar Pro 2 pricing questions, and how it sits against the rest of the Solar line.
Q · 01 How much does Solar Pro 2 cost? +
$0.15/M input, $0.015/M cached input and $0.60/M output, from Upstage's own rate card. No discount is attached to this model.Q · 02 When is Solar Pro 2 retired? +
solar-pro2-251215, as deprecated and says requests naming it will return an error after that date; the pricing card shows the same end-of-service date. Until then it keeps answering at the rates on this page. Upstage's instruction is to migrate to the solar-pro4 alias. The notice was not on the pricing page in an Internet Archive capture of September 26, 2026, and we first saw it on October 10.Q · 03 What should I move to, and what will it cost? +
$0.30/M input and $1.20/M output at list, twice this model's rates, with a 512K window against 64K here. It reasons by default and bills reasoning tokens as output, so re-run cost baselines after the switch. If price matters more than capacity, Solar Mini 4 lists at $0.10 / $0.40 with the same 512K window, but it is a much smaller model (3B active parameters) and not the one Upstage names for this migration.Q · 04 Is Solar Pro 2 cheaper than Solar Pro 4? +
$0.15 / $0.60 here against $0.30 / $1.20. Solar Pro 4's 70% launch discount ran through October 10, 2026; since October 11 Upstage bills it at 50% off ($0.15 / $0.60) until further notice instead of returning to list. The comparison ends on October 30, 2026, when Solar Pro 2 leaves service and Solar Pro 4 is the model Upstage points to.Q · 05 How does it differ from the other Solar tier at this price? +
Q · 06 What context window does it have? +
solar-pro2-251215, a 31B-parameter model. We could not find it on any first-party page when this model was added on August 16, 2026, and the docs page we checked then no longer exists.Q · 07 How do I call it? +
https://api.upstage.ai/v1 and pass solar-pro2. Rate limits scale with your commitment tier, from 100 requests and 250,000 tokens per minute on Tier 0 to 8,000 and 3M on Enterprise.
