Anthropic says some cybersecurity, biology/chemistry and distillation-related requests are served by a fallback model instead, in under 5% of sessions on average. As of the Claude Opus 5 launch on July 24, 2026, biology requests blocked on Fable 5 route to Opus 5 rather than Opus 4.8 - the fallback is billed at that model's rate, not Fable 5's.

It was included on Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans from June 9 through June 22, 2026. Since June 23 use on those plans has required usage credits. This page prices the API, not the subscriptions - those are a separate product line.
